Poem: Open Hands Of A Beggar

Open Hands Of A Beggar

By: Joi Maree Flowers

Can you spare me a meal
Can you spare me some change
Can you spare me a blanket
To cover me as I lay

Though I am guilty and ashamed
Of this life for myself I have made

I aint too proud to ask
For the assistance of your helping hands

So please ma'am
And please sir
Do not just look at me and frown
Then pass me by

Think of me
As your brother or sister
Whose life you can save
For just another night

Anything you can give me
Is more than what I have
May the good Lord bless you
To be generous to fill this poor beggar's hands
