Should've, Would've, Could've

I didn't say "I love you" enough
So you found someone who did
I didn't need you enough
So you found someone who would
I wasn't the woman you'd hope I be
A wish thought to be true of your dream
So to me you said goodbye
And over you I did not cry

I went on with my life
And met a new guy
I tried to compare him to you
I do not know why
He was what I wanted
Though not what I needed
The grass on the other side wasn't as green
As I'd hoped it would be

And now with the passing of time I realize
That everything I wanted I already had in you
Forgive me for not seeing it clearly then
But now I do
It's kind of late now I know
To give us another chance
After leaving me
You too have moved on and left us in the past

To love you
To need you
The only things you wanted of me to do
That I didn't do before
Now I wish I'd did
As now I watch you from a far
With your new love
The woman I before should've been
