Their names
Not all individually known
But their sacrifice to protect and to serve our country is
Praised
Their hands
Not often shook
By we who sought to thank them
For their dedication to us whom they all knew not
Those Soldiers
Brave
Courageous
And selfless
Who everyday faced
Death
Eye to eye
On battlefields

Who for extended lengths of time been
Away from home
Where safety
Once tightly held them
They who through acts of courage
Unselfishly gave of themselves
To execute a mission
Most of us would not have done
They who hoped
To return home
But never got the chance to see
The sun rise again
We remember you
We honor you
We praise you
On this day
And those after
And before
