Truth
By: Joi Maree Flowers
Too soon did he leave without reason
Leaving his love alone to put together the puzzled pieces
Days pass
Months change
A letter addressed to her came
The following year
In the month of May
In it he explained
Why goodbye was said so soon
Why so much time had divided them
The reason revealed
A covered lie
She
Who was meant to only have been a lust
Began quickly without permission turning into his love
And though he wished to have her as his
His name was already carried by another
His wife
The mother of his 4 children
The one he vowed faithfulness to
His forever
The woman who he kept a secret
From his desire
The promises of their forever
Made him a liar
He felt leaving was better
Than explaining
Than facing her hurt face
Than saying to her goodbye
She burned the letter
Erasing the last piece of him
Then alone
Began quickly without permission turning into his love
And though he wished to have her as his
His name was already carried by another
His wife
The mother of his 4 children
The one he vowed faithfulness to
His forever
The woman who he kept a secret
From his desire
The promises of their forever
Made him a liar
He felt leaving was better
Than explaining
Than facing her hurt face
Than saying to her goodbye
She burned the letter
Erasing the last piece of him
Then alone
As nights done before
She wept
Only this time
Over the truth
She wept
Only this time
Over the truth
That brought upon her hurt
Wow! I really like this one, Joi.
