Poem: Unfazed

Unfazed
By: Joi Maree Flowers

What they say about me
Don't make me mind

Chile I ain't got that kind of extra time to spend on foolery

Since the truth never flowed from my mouth
Those air floating words from others are just presumed assumptions

Until verified by my co-sign

Poem: Person Of No Interest

Person Of No Interest
By: Joi Maree Flowers

The presence of a forced wind
Not forecasted prior to its arrival
Turned not my head
To acknowledge its brush as it passed within the surroundings of my space

As my attention
Was directed to prescheduled matters

And I cared not to
Change its planned direction of focus

As the face of the intruder
Was suggested unfamiliar

Due to its lack of knowledge of me

And so

I gave no answer to the
Advances of the stranger
Whom
My name was unspoken

Poem: Questions

Questions
By: Joi Maree Flowers

Sometimes I question
My purpose
Of why life
As it is now
Is
Void of all of my desires

And I wonder

Why were my gifts given to me so easily
But attaining the success that is to come from them
Is anything other than a quick ride up the escalator

Then I think

About He who choose me
To be as I am
Who blessed me
As He did

Then I stop

And realize
That the bumps in the road
And the delay in crossing the street
And the anticipation of one day being in the grand moment of my arrival
All happen to strengthen and humble me

To accept that which is now
In order to embrace that which is to be

Then I vowed

Going forward
To no longer question Him

After all
His way is better than mine

Poem: Be My Forever

Be My Forever
By: Joi Maree Flowers

I want you
As you want me
For the long run

I'm talking about for more than just the 14th day of February
I'm talking about 365 days
Times forever

I want the endless love I dreamed about
The romantic love displayed on the silver screen
The strong love that endures even the most inclement weather

For us

That through thick and thin kind of commitment

I want that kind of Amore' that's original
And has never been shared
Or will ever be
The love that is simply of our hearts

A love
Uninterrupted by famed or acquired success
Un-influenced by stereotype
And not made glamorized by trend

I want your love
Completely
As you do mine

Forget the day for Valentine's

We have the days of forever

Poem: A Moment

A Moment
By: Joi Maree Flowers

Maybe it wasn't meant for us to ever be
Maybe
Just maybe
We were just each others learned lesson
Maybe the picture would have revealed our truth
If we hadn't erased some of its features
Forcing the joy to be placed
Where it was never meant to reside
Afraid to admit failure
But rather find a place behind smiles to hide

Maybe
Just maybe
We were just each other's rest stop
On our travels to somewhere better
Who extended our stay
A little longer than it should have been
With forever only spoken
But never to be seen

As our time was only to be a moment
And not a lifetime

Poem: Nowhere To Go

Nowhere To Go
By: Joi Maree Flowers

This space is so crowded
Filled with
Naysayers
Doubters
And forced smiling faces

Those who wish you well
But only stay around to witness a hoped fail

It's getting hot in here
And the stench is becoming harder to bear

What's been tolerated for long enough
Can be no longer

There's a better place to be
If only this one could be escaped

But
Trying to find the exit out
If so hard to find
When there is nowhere to move
And no one wants to stand aside

Poem: Impatience

Impatience

By: Joi Maree Flowers

Time's a wastin'
And we're all growing impatient
Of waitin'
For our promised dues

A change of better
Vowed to be given
In this world where we're all existin'
But a lot of us still ain't livin' like we should

We don't want much
Just our dreams to see the light of reality
So take down those barriers which ends the journey of our traveling roads
And those signs of exclusions that denies us access through those opened doors

As they should no longer apply
To us
The believers
Who want to achieve

And the dreamers
Who wish to no longer sleep
As we are ready
To become our purpose

And fill the dash
Of our life's mission
For we must give account of our days
When asked in the end

But the time to start is now
As enough time has passed of
Hangin' on to hope and
Wearin' our patience thin with repeated excuses

We are ready to begin

NOW
